LS adjourned for the day after SP, RJD and some JD(U) members disrupt proceedings 

 

 

Women's Bill rocked the proceedings in the Lok Sabha for the third day on Wednesday forcing Speaker to adjourn the House for the day.

They were demanding suspension of 7 Mp for their unruly behaviour on Monday be taken back.

When the House reassembled at noon after the first adjournment, members of SP, RJD, JD (U) and LJP rushed menacingly to the well shouting slogans, prompting Speaker Meira Kumar to immediately adjourn the House till 1400 hours.

Earlier, when the House assembled for the day, members of these parties criticised the government's "autocratic move" to pass the Bill in the Rajya Sabha.

Amid the din, the Speaker adjourned the House till noon. RJD and Samajwadi Party members on Wednesday staged a walked out in Rajya Sabha demanding revocation of the suspenion of seven members who were marshaled out from the House for their "unruly" behaviour while protesting against the Women's Reservation Bill.

As soon as the Question Hour began, the issue was raised by Ramgopal Yadav (SP) and supported by RJD members. Even CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury favoured the revocation of the suspension.

Members from the treasury benches, however, insisted that the suspended members should tender apology. CPM Leader Sitaram Yechury also demanded that the suspension of the 7 MPs be revoked on Wednesday itself.

Yechury also urged the government to ensure that the Women Reservation Bill is passed in the current budget session. He hoped that the spirit of overwhelming support from BJP, Left and Congress on the bill will continue in the Lower House also.
